What Should Happen at the Focus Groups
- remember that goal of the focus group is to get feedback
- bring up specific regional concerns
- what sorts of questions should be asked
- what are the regional fairs across the country like? (i.e. Toronto fair vs. BASEF vs. Montreal)
- what are the differences between the national and regional fairs?
- break out sessions where everyone breaks up into groups and then come back and share
- create a template for documents
- plan for focus groups
- overall discussion of the guide and its contents
- break out sessions to discuss specifics of the guide and what can be improved, new projects
- come together and share ideas
- goal of focus groups is to get more people involved in project, editing guide, new projects etc.
send list of articles that need to be improved to Mubdi by November 15th
Ideas for Work Sessions in Toronto and Montreal
- current ideas include podcasts, "talking head" for front, pre-made presentations
- someone should be in charge of a camera to videotape people saying things which may be relevant
- Mubdi will work on getting technical requirements for that so we can think of idea at session
- Tahbit will work on short summary for the "talking head", Nadia for podcasts, Kari for Presentations
Pre-made presentations
- presentations will focus on various parts of the guide so topics can be chosen by regional presenters depending on what is most relevant
- in the past, making such presentations at the school are very difficult and unsuccessful
- SMARTs model did not work so might not be beneficial
- target audience for presentations are people are regional fairs
- people who deliver are members of Stepping Up Guide or coordinators of regional fair
- develop package with information for person delivering, handout, and presentation itself
- presentations will be available on the Stepping Up website
- presentations could be delivered on online webcast
Other Stuff
- paper teaser will be developed to send out to every regional fair in upcoming year
- interesting note: 10-15% of the hits on the guide are from outside Canada, currently we have had around 12 000-13 000 hits
- CWSF will be used as a venue for the mockumentary
